Lori W. Allen
 

Lori W. Allen started Profitable Practice Strategies in 1995. As the president of PPS, she shares her leadership expertise in practice management and profitability consulting to healthcare industry professionals. She offers her guidance, counseling and development knowledge and support to medical facilities of all specialties, both nationally and internationally.

Lori has been a consultant for over 200 practices and has taught seminars throughout the United States. She specializes in the management, development and expansion of medical facilities, including but not limited to: physical medicine offices; optometric and ophthalmology centers; dental practices; and alternative medicine facilities. She has designed a blueprint program for successful individualized coaching and takes the lead in coordinating and managing numerous corporate and health-related events.

Her success as a business leader has led to her popularity as a guest speaker. She has addressed audie
nces at the University of Pittsburgh and Robert Morris University, speaking on entrepreneurship and what it takes to be successful in today’s market. She was invited to present to the Pennsylvania Focus Group at its annual meeting, held during the International Vision Expo in New York City. The Pennsylvania Optometric Partnership for Progress (POPP) requested that Lori attend their meeting at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Lori is also a regular panel member at the Practice Masters Annual Caribbean Conference. She was keynote speaker with TLC Pittsburgh and presented “How to Maintain and Grow Your Practice in Changing Times” at the Laser Center of Pennsylvania’s Intralase Method Seminar. She recently was featured at the Beitler McKee & Signet Armorlite Optometric Event at PNC Park.

From 1990 to 1995, prior to founding Profitable Practice Strategies, Lori served as president of Med-Pro International, coordinating medical practice services for the Saudi Arabian Embassy. Lori currently divides her time between her Pennsylvania, California and Florida offices to keep up with the demand for her services.

Lori was an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year nominee in 2002 and a finalist in 2003. She has served as a Board Trustee for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since 1994 and was a mentor for Big Brothers & Big Sisters for over 20 years.

A former dance team and cheerleading coach, she still says 'yes' when asked to judge regional competitions. She enjoys traveling with her husband, Ken; gardening; interior design; and playing with her two dogs, Fernando and Zoe.

Lori has big plans for the future of Profitable Practice Strategies and Right Brain Creative. She plans to establish a nonprofit organization to help local women who are at risk rebuild their self-esteem and establish independence.

Delivering solid expertise in client relationship building and maintenance, fierce office management skills and business operations support that radiates finesse, Dena Terrano is the go-to professional at PPS Headquarters and the glue that keeps our staff on task.

An Indiana University of Pa. graduate with a BA in History/Pre-Law, Dena spent many years in the legal field before joining our team. Her job skills have been meticulously tuned over the years to make her the vital resource she is today.

Dena’s job description includes planning, management, mind reading, damage control, morale boosting (primarily through Thai food) and talent scouting. It’s all in a day’s work for the woman who runs the whole office with nothing but her bare hands and a desk phone. On her rare breaks from the office, Dena enjoys watching classic horror films with her husband, is fearless leader of her 9-year-old daughter’s Junior Girl Scout Troop and likes scouting vintage shops and estate sales for antiques.

Creating smart, innovative design that is beautiful and functional — Kathryn Fort is the kind of designer you want on your team. As our illustrious creative leader and Art Director, Kat has a gift for delivering gorgeous and original product.  
 
An Art Institute of Pittsburgh alum, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communications and finds herself highly motivated by illustration, design and Web development.  Kat has design skills honed by more than 15 years of experience in Web and graphics, and she brings energy and style to every project.
 
She has collaborated with a number of high-profile clients and has a practical yet passionate approach to communication, design instruction and problem solving. She enjoys trying out new recipes, playing with food in her kitchen and has an art & music collection to be reckoned with.

Angie Mullig
Copywriter/editor
Words matter. Angie Mullig is a self-appointed guardian of the English language who believes that every sentence should sing — but always on key.

Angie holds a master's degree in Journalism and Communications from Point Park University and has completed coursework at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. She has worked as a newspaper reporter, college professor, advertising copywriter, magazine editor, public relations specialist, health sciences writer, book editor and technical writer. Angie has won awards for humor writing, news writing, speech writing and public relations campaigns, and after more than 30 years of earning a living with a pen, she is still amazed at what the right word can do.
